European Tolerance Award 2009 presented to German Human Rights Activist Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon in Bangkok, Thailand

The European Culture Association (Kultur Forum Europa) awarded the German Human Rights Activist and medical Podologist Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon recently in Bangkok, Thailand with the European Culture Award 2009, Category European Tolerance Award. The event took place in Bangkok's Panthip Suite Hotel and was based into the 2nd Siamese Textile Fair under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali from Thailand (who is also called the "Diana" of Thailand).

(firmenpresse) - The European Culture Association awards since 1992 the European Culture Award. Since 5 years there is the category of the European Tolerance Award. People who take care social minorities especially in the European and European International relationship have been awarded in the past.
Those who have helped to break down social and cultural frontiers between humans and who made it possible to create trust for European thinking to send a positives signal into the European Union and far above.
This year the award has been given to Mr. Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon. A 35 years old human rights activist coming from the Rhine Palatinate district, village of Birkenheide in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, who now mainly lives and works in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
As president of the Organization Thailandfreunde e.V., he has a good call and reputation in Germany and Nothern Thailand.
He is engaged for social minorities such as blind and disabled children, he fights against children prostitution and he further is helping projects of the Royal family in Thailand, especially those of his majesty the king, her majesty the queen and her royal highness Princess Soamsawali from Thailand, who is also called the "Diana" of Thailand. He did a lot for the integration of children coming from a refugee background without any social status.
HIV prevention, taking care of Tsunami victims and scholarships are just 3 fields which can be mentioned in this press statement.
He further was the first human ever, who transferred the idea to work as medical foot therapist, in the field of Podology, in Thailand.
Podology is the science and teaching of the foot regarding to medical factors. With this idea he helped many children and elderly who suffered from foot problems in Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand. And he still goes on with this idea, recently opening a second clinic in Bangkok’s district Lat Yao. The business the Podology Center is now quite well known in the two big cities in Thailand and surround.


The European Tolerance Award 2009 is a porcelain medal out of Europeans oldest Porcelain manufacturer Meissen, showing the Goddess Europe riding a big bull.
The medal was given to Mr. Weeber-Arayatumsopon out of the hands of the secretary of the Royal Palace Mrs. Promsab Bunnak.
Laudatory have been held of the Vice President of the Department for Social Affairs in the European Parliament Thomas Mann, who was connected to the event via a video conference line, the editor in chief of the German Newspaper in Thailand, Pattayablatt, Elfi Seitz and the president of the European Culture Association Mr. Dieter Topp.
Mr. Weeber-Arayatumsopon, thanked her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali, the excellencies, the secretary of the Royal Palace, the Generals and officers of Police and Military for the honor and congratulations who take place in the frame of a Thai Laotian Fashion show.
Dr. Dirk Weeber-Arayatumsopon himself had shown a part of his collection of antic newspapers of the time of King Chulalongkorn the great who reigned until the year 1910. Many of the 300 guests saw the exhibition and were impressed of the interesting old pieces. Also the press like TV and newspapers asked the collector a lot of questions about his rare hobby.
At the end of his personal thank you speech, the new Tolerance Award Winner for 2009 wished his majesty the King Bhumipol from Thailand a good health and a Long Live the King.
