German Gref is visiting USA
April 18, 2011, Moscow - The President, German Gref, Chairman of the Board
of Sberbank of Russia, and a group of Sberbank top managers are visiting
the USA. The Sberbank delegation is meeting the representatives of the
major venture funds, banks and corporations during the visit.
'It is potential investors into our shares that are our primary interest,'
- German Gref stated prior to the visit. 'We have made enormous efforts to
transform the bank over the last three years. Nowadays Sberbank is the most
transparent company on the Russian market. Transparency and risk management
system are our main strong points. We are a large conservative bank and we
want to create the best risk management system in the world. We already run
a rather effective risk management system at the moment. We know how to
make profits and we exceed analysts' expectations.'
In order to expand the investor base, Sberbank is turning to Western stock
exchanges, Head of Sberbank has noted: 'Investors linked to the Russian
capital market have already bought us. At this point, it is crucial for us
to enter international markets, so that those who have not bought us before
could do so now. Our task is to expand the investor base, to step up our
membership in the existing investor portfolios and to demonstrate to them
that Sberbank is a very attractive investment object'.
According to German Gref, Sberbank intends to maintain a ROE level of
15-20%. 'We are probably one of the most clear and attractive investment
objects in this regard', emphasized the President of Sberbank.
'We will take care not to affect the price of our shares negatively',
stated German Gref. 'We will only sell the shares the market can digest'.
'We invest our own money into our shares, as we see that this is the right
kind of investment', noted Head of Sberbank.

30% of assets of the Russian banking system with about 240 thousand
employees. The Central Bank of Russia is the founder and main shareholder
of OAO Sberbank of Russia (more than 60% voting shares). Other shareholders
of the bank include over 260 thousand individuals and legal entities. The
bank enjoys the most diversified branch network in Russia: 17 territorial
banks, over 20 thousand branches and internal structural divisions as well
as subsidiary banks in Kazakhstan, the Ukraine and Belarus.
The number of the general license for performing banking operations held by
the Bank of Russia is 1481.
