Status of Russian political system was discussed at Sberbank's business
lunch
January 27, 201, Davos (Switzerland) - First Deputy Chairman of the
Government of Russia Igor Shuvalov in his speech during the business lunch
organized by Sberbank on the World Economic Forum declared that many
current problems in Russia come from status of its political system.
'By demonstrating dissatisfaction with political system we are heading to
the quality which Russia deserves. And Russia deserves other political
system,' - stressed Igor Shuvalov. 'Things happening in Russia now are very
positive,' - added the First Vice-Premier.
Chairman of the Board of OJSC 'ROSNANO' Anatoly Chubais formulated the
reason of the shift in public sentiments in Russia: 'The society was
positive about backwardness of our political system: the society liked in
the last decade. And the stability thesis we are currently cursing at that
time was really popular. What used to be stability yesterday now appears to
be stagnation, what used to be a power vertical yesterday, now appears to
be corruption. The reason is simple and evident: middle class emerged in
Russia.' In his speech Anatoly Chubais called himself a previously young
reformer who became a senior conservative now.
'The society should gain tolerance despite of political views', and
'transparence and efficiency of authorities is impossible without political
competition,' - stated the ex-Minister of Finance of Russia Aleksey Kudrin.
