ALMA MANU PLANS TO ADJUST ITS OPERATIONS IN ROVANIEMI PRINTING FACILITY
Alma Manu Oy, the printing and distribution company of Alma Media Group, plans
to rationalise and reorganise the operations of its printing facility in
Rovaniemi. Due to the decreased number of products printed at the Rovaniemi
facility, as well as declined print runs of the facility's main products, the
production of the facility must be adjusted to reflect the changes in business
conditions.
Based on the planned rationalisation and reorganisation of its operations, Alma
Manu starts statutory cooperation negotiations with its employees. The
negotiations will encompass the clerical and printing workers of the Rovaniemi
printing facility, in total 24 persons. The negotiations will concern possible
lay-offs of employees, transfers from one task to another, changes in job
descriptions, changes in working hours and in the terms and conditions of
employment as well as opportunities for education and outplacement. According to
the tentative estimate, Alma Manu anticipates that the number of employees at
the Rovaniemi facility may decrease by seven person-years.
The employer, employees and labour authorities will jointly prepare an action
plan to support the re-employment opportunities of any employees that may be
made redundant. Alma Manu plans to offer employees other positions as an
alternative to redundancy, if possible.
Alma Manu, the printing and distribution company of Alma Media Group, employs in
total 1,170 persons in Pirkanmaa, Satakunta, Meri-Lappi and Lapland regions. Of
the employees, approximately 1 000 works as newspaper deliverers.
