Funkwerk AG receives further order from Deutsche Bahn AG
- Software modernisation in the control centres for the mainline network
and suburban lines
- Order volume in the middle single-digit million range
Funkwerk AG has won a further order from Deutsche Bahn AG thus continuing
the successful operative business of its Traffic and Control Communication
Division. The object of the contract is the porting of important parts of
the operations control systems currently used for the mainline network and
suburban lines to a new system platform. Commissioning of the modernised
software is planned for 2014. The volume of the order is in the middle
single-digit million range.
It was primarily the high competence of Funkwerk's Traffic and Control
Communication Division (TCC) in control technology systems coupled with its
comprehensive knowledge of traffic control processes at DB Netz AG which
played a crucial role in the decision to award this contract to Funkwerk.
Funkwerk's task is to adapt the software applications and databases
stipulated by Deutsche Bahn AG for use on a modern target platform. This is
essential in order to standardise and integrate DB's IT systems and thus
reduce maintenance and repair costs. Parallel to the software porting,
Funkwerk is developing a new wide-area information system for DB AG.
The successful acquisition of this order confirms the course chosen by
Funkwerk AG for strategic reorientation, which is to concentrate on its
core competencies.
