(firmenpresse) - SGS will attend and sponsor the upcoming 5th PCF World Summit, a two day event focused on the exchange of knowledge and experience related to climate-conscious production and consumption.
The summit, taking place from April 7 to 8 at the Gottlieb Duttweiler Institute in Zurich, Switzerland, will include a presentation from SGS expert Dr Ahmad Ansari. This presentation will address the subject of “Sound Carbon Footprint Assessment as the Basis for Verification and Credible Communication”. SGS executive Jonathan Hall will then participate in a discussion entitled “The Future of Credibility in Carbon Footprinting”. They bring to the summit their respective expertise in their roles as SGS Sustainability Manager for Central Eastern Europe, and SGS Global Head of the Climate Change Program.
Alongside the presentation given by SGS, a selection of topics will be addressed relating to carbon footprinting and to ways to support climate-conscious and low-carbon consumption models. These will include a focus on emerging international standards for carbon footprinting; assurance and verification in the field of Credibility in Carbon Footprint Information; international corporate best practices; practical considerations and implications for international trade and emerging economies, and the role of Credibility of Carbon Footprint (http://www.sustainability.sgs.com/consumergoods/carbon-footprint.htm) Information as it applies to a range of international initiatives.
The development of upcoming international standards for carbon footprinting is expected to receive attention as an important achievement, especially given the increasing significance of carbon footprinting for corporate sustainability and environmental strategies. The application of these new standards will also allow companies to more effectively communicate and implement their carbon management strategies. This will in turn allow stakeholders, end-consumers and customers to trust in corporate communications and marketing claims. The coming standards will also enable businesses to ensure that their carbon management policies are implemented uniformly.
