INCORRECT NEWS REGARDING ALMA MEDIA'S ETUOVI.COM TRADEMARK
Several media has today reported on a decision made by the Supreme
Administrative Court on November 10, 2010. The decision dealt with Alma Media's
application for reversal in the earlier trademark decision of the Supreme
Administrative Court. The news regarding the matter has included mistakes and
has been based solely on the false views of the other party.
The conflict of Alma Media and Mr Jori-Pekka Träskbäck pertains to a dispute
over previous priority regarding the trademark ETUOVI. The recent decision made
by Supreme Administrative Court does not concern the mentioned matter. In August
2008, the District Court of Helsinki confirmed in its decisions that Alma Media
right to use its established and widely recognized trademark "ETUOVI.COM". The
dispute will continue at the Helsinki Court of Appeal.
Alma Media and Mr Träskbäck have several pending trials and authoritative
proceedings related with the ETUOVI trademark. The decisions given by the
Supreme Administrative Court last week constitutes only a minor part in the
entity of trials, and did not resolve the dispute over what kind of rights Alma
Media has on ETUOVI.COM trademark, based on the trademark's established and
widely recognized position and on its EU registration.
No authority or court of justice has made a decision that would deny Alma
Media's right to use the trademark ETUOVI.COM.
