Yellowhead Mining's main asset is the Harper creek mineral property, located
approximately 90 kilometres northeast of Kamloops, British Columbia. The
property is a volcanogenic sulphide deposit with copper, gold and silver
mineralization. The company holds mineral tenures on an area of 42,636 hectares
on the project. The most recent NI 43-101 technical report on the Harper Creek
project stated an indicated resource of 569 million tonnes at 0.32% copper.
The property has a history of exploration going back to 1966 when it was staked
by a joint venture between Noranda Exploration and US Steel. In 1986, Aurun
Mines optioned US Steel's claims and conducted a series of exploration work
including trenching and resampling of core to investigate the potential for
high-grade copper, molybdenum, precious metals and titanium-bearing
mineralization, as well as the leachability of lower grade copper
mineralization.
A pre-feasibility study was also performed which reported non NI 43-101
compliant "geological resources" of 96 million tonnes grading 0.41 copper,
0.045 grams per tonne gold, 2.5 grams per tonne silver and "mineable resources"
of 65.34 million tonnes at 0.36% copper, 0.040 grams per tonne gold and 2.2
grams per tonne silver.
The Harper Creek property was acquired by Yellowhead through staking and a
series of agreements since 2005. Yellowhead has conducted exploration work
including geological mapping, prospecting, soil sampling, geophysical surveys,
relogging and resampling of old core and diamond drilling. From 2006 to 2008,
Yellowhead drilled 75 diamond drill holes totalling more than 27,500 metres.
At the end of 2010, the company started a new 4,000 metre drilling program
consisting of 8 holes.
Yellowhead conducted an in-house evaluation (non 43-101 compliant) for the
Harper Creek project with an open pit design. Based on a 70,000 tonnes per day
milling capacity design, the Harper Creek project is estimated to have a mine
life of over 20 years and a 0.83:1 stripping ratio for the life of the mine.
