Media Advisory: Canadian Forces Contingent to Honour the Fallen at Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 20, 2011) - On July 21, the Canadian Forces
(CF) contingent participating in the 95th annual International Four Days Marches
Nijmegen will visit the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery in the Netherlands. The
contingent, composed of over 200 marchers and 25 members of the Air Command
Band, will stop halfway through their daily 40 km walk to pay their respects to
some 2,338 Canadian soldiers and airmen who died in the various battles to
liberate the Netherlands in 1944 and 1945.
When: July 21 at 12:00 (noon) Central European Summer Time (6:00 a.m. EDT).
Where: Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery and Memorial, Groesbeek, Netherlands.
What: CF contingent will participate in a parade at Groesbeek Canadian War
Cemetery.
Attending the event will be the following VIPs: Rear-Admiral Andy Smith, Chief
Military Personnel and CF sponsor for the contingent; Brigadier-General John C.
Madower, the CF Contingent Commander; the Honourable Laurie Hawn, Member of
Parliament (M.P.) for Edmonton Centre; Mr. Blaine Calkins, M.P. for Wetaskiwin,
Alberta; Honorary Colonel Dennis Erker, Loyal Edmonton Regiment; Colonel J.
Hausmann, U.S. Defence Attache to Canada; as well as Sergeant (Ret'd) Joe Brink
of the Royal Canadian Legion.
