ACI CALLS FOR RACIONAL IN THE FINANCIAL MARKETS
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Press Release
Paris/Vienna, August 9(th) 2011
ACI calls for rational in the financial markets
For some years now ACI The Financial Markets Association calls for attention to
the ongoing changing in the globalized world. Politics, economics and financials
are facing a changed environment but need to become realized and accepted.
Filling the gap between fast raising economies in Asia or other emerging areas
and the so called 'developed markets' in many western countries, these
developments effect currently adjustments and further balancing between the
different regions.
To give an example, the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 was overdue because of
strong imbalances between two different systems (economically and politically).
Alike a 'self regulating' valve the breakdown of one of the systems led to new
challenges and created positive developments at all over the following years for
both of them.
Under such an aspect ACI considers the political awareness and the realized
responsibility within the US and the EU to handle its debt developments as a
positive step at the right timing. The recent downgrade of the US country rating
should not be seen as a disaster rather than as an adjustment and an answer
responding to these driving global developments. The revision within the US
country rating will further enhance the political efforts all over the world.
The measurement of a country debt versus its GDP is one possibility. May be
other assets need to become added to such country credit worthiness calculations
in the future? Just to mention one: The world's gold reserves are held mainly by
the EU area (35,3% - Germany, Italy and France are the biggest gold stocks
holders), by the USA (26,6%) and the IMF (9,3%), reaching together more than
71% of the world's gold stocks.
Traders are obliged to react on market and political developments. Nevertheless,
ACI warns on any market overreaction as shock movements are always bad
companions.
