Vancouver, British Columbia, October 12, 2011 - Deer Horn Metals (TSXV:DHM)
released the first set of assays from its 2011 work program on the Deer Horn
property yesterday, prior to the opening of the market. Volume jumped to 2.3
million shares, considerably higher than the normal volumes.

This years' program consisted of 31 holes, with 25 holes drilled within the
existing mineral resource area and another 6 holes testing the western extension
of the deposit. These are the assays from the first 3 holes.
* Hole 107 intercepted 35.4 metres averaging 4.2 grams per tonne gold, 94.4
grams per tonne silver and 115 parts per million tellurium
* Hole 98 intercepted 3.96 metres averaging 5.4 grams per tonne gold, 55.7
grams per tonne silver and 252 parts per million tellurium
* Hole 97 intercepting .3 metres averaging 6.3 grams per tonne gold, 70 grams
per tonne silver and 295 parts per million tellurium
All 3 intercepts occurred within 17 metres of surface.
The company's 60 square kilometre property is located in west- central British
Columbia, 36 kilometres south of Imperial Metals' Huckleberry copper/molybdenum
mine, in an area of both active and historic mining.
Previous exploration identified high-grade tellurium, gold and silver along with
tungsten and molybdenum. Surface diamond drilling and underground exploration
have defined veins over a strike length of approximately 700 metres, while the
primary system has been traced for approximately 1.5 kilometres.
Recent advances in solar technology have greatly increased tellurium demand and
generated new interest in the Deer Horn mineralization. Tellurium currently
sells for approximately US$300 a kilogram, up from $10 a kilogram in 2004. Deer
Horn has reported some of the highest tellurium grades on record, and
significantly is one of few significant tellurium discoveries outside of Asia.
The shares are currently trading at $0.14 and with about 97 million shares
outstanding, the company is capitalized at less than $14 million.
