Berlin based ETLog Health, Grontmij | Carl Bro and EHG awarded tender for EU waste project in Serbia


Berlin/Belgrade. Hospital waste is a difficult subject in Serbia. As a result of war and isolation, the country held out for far too long in a sort of economic rigour mortis. Now, if she is to qualify for EU membership she must leave this isolation. In addition to many other areas, waste disposal must also meet European standards. International experts are helping on location. The long years of civil war has left its mark deep in the fabric of Serbia. Since October 2000, she has been making efforts to turn around the fortunes of the nation. Serbia has placed great hope in membership of the EU. In order to achieve this aim, she must first restore and improve the infrastructure. One is the disposal of waste. To this end, the European Agency Reconstruction (EAR) has initiated a programme with the title: National CARDS Programme. Many projects have been awarded under the aegis of this programme, including technical support in area of hospital waste.

The aim of the project is the development of an effective and effective system for the collection, storage, treatment and disposal of medical waste in Serbia. This system must conform to Serbian and European requirements and guidelines. The contract was awarded to a consortium consisting of the Danish firms Grontmij | Carl Bro und Euro Health Group (EHG) as well as the German firm ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH. The project will begin in June 2007 and should be completed in two years.
ETLog Health EnviroTech & Logistics GmbH has established itself as a specialist for the healthcare sector. The Berlin-based firm advises clinics, institutions and ministries in both Germany and abroad regarding the topic of the disposal of hospital waste.
