PublicSQL allows SQL Queries in JavaScript

A new Open Source SQL Alternative

Germany, November 12, 2010. The existing development of Databases for use in web-Applications requires large server-Databases like Mysql and MS sql.
PublicSQL allows users to run SQL services without using a SQL database server. To achieve this, we use a special internal table format – “Portable Table Format” – to allow for SQL Queries directly in JavaScript. Programming Internet Applications without server connection is only possible using JavaScript. This restricts the number of SQL command available. For security reasons JavaScript is not allowed to save data files and loading of data files have special requirements.

PublicSQL is not intended to provide a substitution of existing databases, but to provide some enhancement to these. PublicSQL consists of a JavaScript which is to be included into your web-site. Tables will be created in portable table format which is similar to the CSV file format. Tables used in queries will be loaded automatically.

The simple data format allows for future expansions and interfaces to other programs and applications. In addition PublicSQL is the first application to allow forwarding of databases with a web-site and to have public databases on different servers and web-sites.

PublicSQL is Open-Source Software. The actual version is available for downloading from http://www.publicsql.org.
