CEVA Logistics increases business efficiency for E.ON.
CEVA extends services to E.ON and its contractors
Ashby De La Zouch, United Kingdom, 22 July 2009 ? CEVA, a leading global supply chain management company, has extended the signs and barriers operation it manages for E.ON. The service now includes delivering signs and barriers to E.ON and its external service providers. The scope of activities includes the management of a Helpdesk and an 'R R' Repair and Restoration provision. The contract guarantees a response within three hours to deliver equipment where required.
E.ON, is the world?s largest investor-owned power and gas company, serving 40 million people in 20 countries. CEVA is responsible for all logistics activities in the UK, including a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year emergency delivery service. The region extends from the Peak District in the north, to the outskirts of Bristol in the South, and from the Welsh borders to the Lincolnshire coast in the east.
CEVA drivers have recently been accredited with NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act). This accreditation enables CEVA to erect signs and barriers on the public highway where an excavation has taken place. Once the excavation has been re-instated, CEVA collects all the equipment, managing the assets and reducing shrinkage, which reduces asset loss. CEVA also responds to calls to make good knocked down signs and barriers which have been put in place for central networks infrastructure and maintenance. The on-time removal of signs and barriers also reduces section 74 penalties issued by regulators when equipment is left behind longer than it should be.
Malcolm Russell, Logistics Manager, E.ON says: "We have worked in partnership with CEVA for 12 years and this is another example of continuous improvement, LEAN excellence and stretching the boundaries of a traditional utilities logistics operation. We look forward to seeing the benefits of the improved service.?
"We are delighted that E.ON has outsourced the majority of its signs and barriers management to CEVA,? says Nick Cullen, Managing Director, CEVA Logistics UK Ireland. "By managing these assets for E.ON we will reduce shrinkage, eliminate penalties and benefit the environment.?
