IoT WISE-Cloud Platform, Advantech?s Software Value added Business Model
KC Liu, Advantech CEO said, "We are now entering a connected revolution era which will bring all kinds of ICT growth and demand, whether in 2020 when the industry will grow to 50 billion devices, or in 2040 when it will accelerate to one trillion devices, this demand will profoundly affect the entire community and industry. So in order to catch the coming wave, Advantech will continuously collaborate with strategic partners in the IoT value chain. Moreover, we have developed a brand new cloud concept called WISE-Cloud (Wireless IoT Solutions Embedded-Cloud, WISE-Cloud) so as to deepen and actively develop the IoT cycle from the starting point of information gathering, to the upper cloud, then to big data analysis, and finally feeding back to the device."
KC further added that WISE-Cloud is a cloud solution developed through comprehensive wireless technology especially for the IoT industry. It is designed to gather data wirelessly and convert into services for effective use in business intelligence. Advantech has thus for the first time collaborated with Microsoft by using Advantech SUSIAccess, a remote software management tool and Microsoft's Azure. In addition, Advantech has three strategic directions for WISE-Cloud development: internal development, partner collaborations, and external investment.
-Internal Development: develop a dedicated WISE-Cloud team to form a business model for its customer service
-Partner Collaborations: collaborate with IoT cloud platform infrastructure enterprises such as Microsoft, Amazon, Alibaba, Baidu and others
-External Investment: actively invest in 3rd party cloud application services companies
Miller Chang, vice president of Advantech Embedded Core Computing Group said that in order to respond to this change, all of Advantech's future embedded solutions and products will follow two directions: integrated IoT solutions and services, and accelerating the IoT value chain & ecosystem. Moreover, following the WISE-Cloud concept, all embedded solutions will be integrated with all types of wireless data acquisition solutions, WISE-Cloud software for manageability, security functions, and sensor-to-cloud connectivity solutions. Once the WISE-Cloud is fully operational, Advantech embedded solutions? sales model will significantly change from a pure hardware sales oriented model into a value-added software services model to drive forward hardware-oriented sales.
Advantech reinforces its vision of "Enabling an Intelligent Planet' in order to accelerate the practice of smart city and IoT solutions, and in the spirit of ?Partnering for Smart City and IoT Solutions? it will continue to collaborate with worldwide partners. 2014 Advantech Embedded WPC will feature more than 200 partners from around the world, shared insights from experts, live demonstrations, and discussions on the latest embedded trends.
