Magirus becomes First Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorised Configurator in Europe
Magirus launches tailor-made Data Center solutions in quick time for European resellers
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WEDNESDAY 30th JUNE 2010
STUTTGART, GERMANY ? Magirus, one of Europe?s leading IT solution providers, announced today that it has become the first Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series Authorised Configurator (UCAC) in Europe. To meet end- customer requirements, a Cisco UCAC distributor can configure pre- built base Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series servers by adding processors, memory, hard-drives and adapters.
Available immediately from its European Technology Logistics Center in Strasbourg, France, Magirus will offer tailor-made assembly of Cisco data center technologies beginning with the Cisco UCS C-series servers. This is a significant development for the channel: it gives resellers more choice for their customers by configuring solutions specifically to their requirements and provides fast delivery times from as little as five working days from order to placement.
Building on its IT solution assembly track record, Magirus will offer ?configure to order? data center solutions based on 18 Cisco UCS C-Series bundles for resellers from all countries in the European Economic Area*.
The Cisco Unified Computing System is a foundation element of Cisco?s data center portfolio of solutions, for which Magirus was recently selected to distribute in Europe. Cisco?s ecosystem of data center partners includes key vendors such as VMware and EMC, also which Magirus distributes.
As Cisco?s only authorised pan-European assembly partner for the Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series, Magirus can ?configure to order? the Cisco Unified Computing System C-Series bundles for resellers from: the C200 entry-level server; the C210 mid-range server; and the C250 high-performance server. Resellers can ?configure to order? from: a base of processing power; RAM, input/output; and internal memory resources.
Magirus? tailor-made, configuration capability gives resellers fast, high-quality assembly? the same as they would receive if purchased directly from Cisco. Also, the service gives resellers greater flexibility. For example, through Magirus, resellers can design and configure additional Cisco networking hardware and software with complementary virtualisation and storage technologies from VMware, EMC and other vendors.
Resellers can even access and supplement their customer?s configuration remotely via a secure VPN link before it is shipped. This gives them the added flexibility to add remotely their own software.
Christian Magirus, executive vice-president COO at Magirus commented, "This is another first in the channel. Now, our resellers from across Europe can tailor the Cisco UCS C-Series of servers to deliver a unified data center solution ? all in less than five days from order to shipment?. He added, "This opens the door to a whole host of physical, virtualised and private cloud solution combinations which resellers can customise easily. This enhanced capability, combined with fast delivery times, will help resellers build closer relationships with their customers.?
Also, resellers may take advantage of Magirus? integration services such as network configuration support or pre-configuring operating and storage systems at the European Technology Logistics Center in Strasbourg. The integration services provide additional capability for those resellers in the early stages of entering the data center market.
Thierry Drilhon, vice-president for Worldwide Partner Organisation, European markets at Cisco said, "Cisco is building a logical path for distributors to capture market opportunities around the virtualised data center, and the new UCAC designation is the next step in paving that path for our distributors. It gives resellers the opportunity to provide their customers with more choice in what, how and when their solutions are implemented.
Our authorisation of Magirus? ?configure to order? capability through UCAC scales Cisco?s Data Center 3.0 vision by enabling and developing additional data center resellers, and reflects Magirus? strong data center expertise to deliver solutions now for resellers and their customers.?
