Greece boasts of the largest coastline in Europe, running up to 13,676km and dotted with numerous island. The inland of the country is mountainous, the country also consist of more than 1400 Greek islands, though only 168 are inhabited. Greece mainland is divided into:
Central Greece (Sterea),
Thessaly (eastcentral),
Peloponnese,
Macedonia (north),
Epirus (north west),
Thrace (north west).
Greece also consists of islands and island complexes:
Cyclades,
Crete,
Ionian,
Dodecanese,
Sporades,
Eastern Aegean islands,
Saronic.
Out of the total population (11 million) of Greece 4 millions live in Athens, the country's capital.
Griechenland Yachtcharter, Yachtcharter Griechenland or yacht charter in Greece provides an excellent way to discover Greece. Greece consisting of many gulfs and archipelagos is considered a haven of yachting and suits every sailor's expectations, whether yachting for sport or for pleasure.

The Winds in the Aegean Sea, during summers is called "Meltemi" and flows from May till September. The intensity and the direction of the Meltemi vary from region to region. The Meltemi become quite strong in July and August with a average duration of 2 to 4 days. The Ionian Sea Winds blow from the North West, in summer and known as "Maistros".


More than 100 sailing clubs of country organise many races in the Greek Seas that are supervised by the Hellenic Yachting Federation. Diversity of the Greek islands can be discovered by a yacht tour. The islands lying at a distance of less than 25 nautical miles offer beautiful sandy beaches and many ancient cities amongst unspoiled nature. Dolphins would love to follow the boats and small ports and bays that are lined with cypresses and olive trees, hold magical attraction.
The Greek yacht charter regulations require every boat to have a major person and a Co skipper. The yacht charter starts usually from Athens for a week's period and the yacht acquisition as well as restitution is done on Saturdays. However, one-way yacht charter tours are also available to some bases such as Dodecanese, the Cyclades, the Ionian Sea and Sporades. Tourists without a boat license can hire experienced skippers who are familiar with Greek waters and island.
