REVIEW: Winner of the SAMS Europe 2012

we.CONECT congratulates the winners for receiving the SAMS Europe Award 2012 for the best implementation of an enterprise-wide software asset and license management strategy!

(firmenpresse) - In the framework of the Software Asset Management Strategies Europe 2012 conference from 17th until 18th September 2012 in Berlin, we.CONECT bestowed the award for the best performance in SAM & SLM. The projects that had to be submitted until 20th July were evaluated, nominated and selected by an independent jury according to this categories:
•Reducing software costs
•Managing server licenses
•Enforcing compliances with security policies
•Balancing over and under licensing
•Limiting overhead
•Performing reporting solutions
•Improving worker productivity
•Company-wide coordination of software procurement processes

The winners of the SAMS Europe Award 2012 were:

1.Siemens AG
2.Adidas Group
3.DB Systel GmbH

More than 100 participants attended the award ceremony that took place in the great ambience of the Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof hotel. In the evening of the first conference day, the award was ceremoniously presented by we.CONECT and Bernhard Böhler from Aspera GmbH. They stressed the high quality of the nominated projects:
“The nominated projects were of such a high quality that the selection of the winners was not easy for us!”
Finally, Siemens AG won the prize for the best project. Mr. Oberhagemann received the award, acting for his team. The Adidas Group managed to earn an excellent second place, represented by Tom Fink. Winner of the third place was DB Systel. Further finalists were Baker Hughes Inc., Eaton Corporation, Portigon AG and Unisys Global Services.
The jury was composed of the following members:

•Lene Bader, Director, Supplier Relationship Management, Danfoss A/S / Denmark
•Bernhard Böhler, Managing Director, Aspera GmbH / Germany
•Rachel Dean, Global Software Asset Manager, AstraZeneca Plc. / UK

In the name of we.CONECT and the 3 winners, the prize money of € 2,000 was donated to Our Children e.V. and Kid’s Corner, a charity project supporting computer schools in Ghana. Through their commitment they advocate the access to a qualified education and a self-determined life for every child. In the future these children will contribute to a righteous civil society.
