Methodist Willowbrook Hospital Unveils Expanded Women's & Children's Pavilion for Growing Families in Northwest Houston Community
New Methodist Willowbrook Women's & Children's Pavilion Provides Comprehensive Women's Health Services, With Specialized High Risk Obstetrics Unit and Neonatal Care
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 12/30/11 -- Methodist Willowbrook Hospital has expanded its women's and children's services to better meet needs within the rapidly growing Northwest Houston community -- doubling the number of neonatal intensive care beds and opening a high-risk obstetrics unit.
The Women's & Children's Pavilion was officially dedicated this fall at a community health fair. The event featured speakers and screenings, as well as a special reunion of NICU patients. Willowbrook's maternity services, often recognized for their high standard of care, now has expanded capabilities for high risk obstetric patients with a nine bed ante partum unit designed for at-risk pregnancies. The neonatal intensive care unit was expanded from 10 beds to 22 beds for babies who require additional care with the support of onsite neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners also on staff at Texas Children's Hospital. These specialists are in the hospital 24/7 to provide a continuous expert level of care at any hour of the day.
The 12 bed addition in the Neonatal Services Department allows mothers to stay with their babies in most instances. The Women's & Children's Pavilion also has a pediatric unit with pediatric "hospitalists" to care for children who have short stay needs in the hospital following evaluation by the Emergency Department or post surgery. The pediatric unit operates under specific pediatric protocols and policies with pediatric trained nurses and can, in many instances, prevent the need for transfer to the Texas Medical Center facilities.
Connected to the Women's & Children's Pavilion is the North Pavilion, which opened May 2010 and includes adult surgical, imaging and emergency departments, as well as intensive care units and three floors of medical-surgical inpatient beds.

Ramsey said Methodist Willowbrook has advanced to a new level of tertiary care for Northwest Houston with the expansion of services, which includes open heart procedures and neurosurgery, accredited stroke and accredited chest pain services, a critical care team in the hospital 24/7, orthopedics and sports medicine and maternity care.
