ZyXEL Broadband Gateways Interoperable With Hitachi SuperJ(TM) Applications Environment

A result of joint efforts between the companies, the new interoperability offers service providers a ready solution that will simplify and speed up deployment of on-demand services.
Subscribers increasingly enjoy higher-bandwidth broadband connections at home. This expanded capacity presents opportunities for service providers to deliver premium services, including home and energy monitoring, media sharing, data backup and storage, to generate additional revenue opportunities and enhance customer loyalty. In addition, these services can be delivered to subscribers via the cloud as downloadable apps, making them easier to implement quickly and cheaply.
The OSGi application platform offers service providers an efficient mechanism for deploying service-driven apps quickly and on-demand. The is an OSGi-compliant server engine that supports a variety of applications via compatible CPE devices, such as ZyXEL broadband gateways and media adapters. The Java-based SuperJ environment offers maximum portability for applications and also shortens the learning curve for application developers. In addition, software components can be installed, updated or removed on the fly, without disrupting the operation of pre-installed home gateways or creating the need to replace them.
