Group Advocates Lower Emissions, Costs
(firmenpresse) - ALBANY, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 01/11/12 -- Six investor-owned New York State electric and natural gas utilities have formed Energy Coalition New York to provide public policy leadership on energy issues.
The coalition consists of:
Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation
Consolidated Edison Inc.
National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation
National Grid
New York State Electric & Gas Corporation
and
Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation.
The coalition will work with the governor and state legislature on energy policies to control customer costs, reduce environmental emissions, spur economic development, and promote energy efficiency. The coalition also will serve as an informational and educational resource for the media and the public.
Together, the companies own and operate most of the state's electric and natural gas infrastructure, employ more than 32,000 people, serve more than 8.5 million customers, and pay more than $3 billion in state and local taxes, assessments and fees. Energy Coalition New York's members also contribute tens of millions of dollars annually to community and charitable causes.
Coalition companies continuously invest in their transmission and distribution systems, ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity and natural gas.
