Chester Springs Animal Hospital Aids Companion Dog Service
(firmenpresse) - CHESTER SPRINGS, PA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/12/12 -- A veterinary clinic for the Chester Springs, Downingtown and Exton area is stepping up to donate essential pet care to a service dog who will act as a service or companion animal to an individual seeking greater independence. is performing these services in support of Canine Partners for Life, a non-profit organization that provides such animals to people coping with physical or cognitive challenges. The clinic's veterinarians, Dr. David Matunis and Dr. Jennifer Granite, will be contributing basic veterinary services to help ensure the health of a yellow Labrador Retriever enrolled in the program.
"This is a wonderful organization that does a lot of good for disabled communities all over the country," says Dr. Matunis. "We're happy to have the opportunity to donate our own skills and expertise in support of their work."
, based in Cochranville, Pennsylvania, spends up to two years training each dog before placing it with an individual in need. The dogs are trained as service animals, home companion dogs or residential companion dogs. The residential companion dogs help disabled individuals in group residential settings such as nursing homes or special-needs facilities. The residential companion dogs are generally placed within 100 miles of the Canine Partners for Life training campus, while home companion dogs trained to help with daily tasks in individuals' homes are placed within a 250-mile radius. Service dogs that help disabled individuals get around safely in public environments, however, may be placed nationwide, and the organization currently has dogs placed in 40 states across the U.S.
