The Joint Commission Awards Accreditation to Sierra Tucson

(firmenpresse) - TUCSON, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 01/16/12 -- Sierra Tucson has earned accreditation from The Joint Commission by demonstrating full compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals.
In December 2011, Sierra Tucson underwent an unannounced on-site survey by The Joint Commission. Sierra Tucson was evaluated for compliance and was recognized for meeting all 2011 National Patient Safety Goals.
"Receiving The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for health care quality and safety says to your patients, staff, and community that you are committed to providing the best care," stated Cathy Barry-Ipema, Chief Communications Officer for The Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission has been acknowledged as the leader in developing the highest standards for quality and safety in the delivery of health care. The Joint Commission evaluates organization performance based on these standards, providing an objective assessment of clinical excellence.
Internationally acclaimed for its treatment programs for coexisting disorders, addictions, mental health disorders, and pain management, Sierra Tucson has received dual accreditation by The Joint Commission, both as a "Hospital" and for "Behavioral Health Care." This supports the facility's dual licensure as a Special Hospital and Behavioral Health Residential Treatment Center.
"Sierra Tucson's commitment to the highest quality care, demonstrated by our staff-to-patient ratio of 3:1 and our professional, full-time medical and clinical staff, is validated by this accreditation," said Christi Cessna, Director of Clinical Outreach. "Of the few treatment centers that hold dual licensure, Sierra Tucson stands out with dual accreditation by The Joint Commission, as well."
Robert R. Johnson, D.O., Sierra Tucson's Medical Director since 2008, gives enormous credit to Sierra Tucson's professional staff and their ability to work together as an effective team. "It is truly a blessing to have the opportunity to collaborate with such an amazing group of caring and talented people," commented Dr. Johnson. "Sierra Tucson has risen to the top in providing the very best treatment due to our commitment and growth in many critical areas. Our quality of staff, care coordination, depth of programming, integrated treatment, ongoing research, healing environment, humility, and the strong therapeutic alliance that we build with our patients all lead to amazing clinical breakthroughs. We are dedicated to helping each patient find healing for a life of fulfillment."
