Free Mobile Apps and Planning Workshop Help Government Agencies Plan and Deploy Cost-Effective and Mission-Focused Mobile Capabilities

(firmenpresse) - WASHINGTON, DC -- (Marketwire) -- 01/17/12 -- Efiia Cares, a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization dedicated to lessening the burden on government, today announced the release of two free, self-service mobile applications -- mPlan CreatorLite and mPlan CreatorPro. Both applications help government IT leaders create cost-effective mobile strategies for their organizations and improve the performance of mobile application development projects.

"Anyone can develop mobile apps, that's the easy -- and fun -- part. Our mobile program enables government agencies to take a cost-effective, enterprise approach to mobility. Two of the biggest challenges we are seeing in the government space are building the business case for mobility, and getting mobile pilots to production. Mobility in the government has to help save money and improve mission capabilities -- otherwise it's just not worth doing."
-Kelly O'Connor, President of Efiia Cares

For federal agencies, mobility holds great promise to support mission-critical operations, citizen engagement, and collaboration if agencies can overcome the challenges around security, privacy, data management, capital planning, mobile device management, and mobile application management. The mobile strategy starter kits provide agencies with the building blocks to ensure a successful mobile implementation -- a need with growing importance as federal agencies comply with the White House's Federal Mobility Strategy.

mPlan Creator Lite is available for free download on the Apple iTunes Store (). Agencies can also participate in a free planning workshop through mPlan CreatorPro that determines an agency's current mobile baseline, recommendations, risks, areas of opportunity and next steps for developing an enterprise mobility strategy immediately.

"Efiia's mobile planning workshop gave our team the chance to collaboratively work on a mobile strategy that made sense in terms of our unique environment and challenges -- including things like security, privacy, and capital planning. The workshop was an incredibly efficient use of our time and the outputs were helpful in furthering our mobile planning efforts already underway."

-Larry Smith, Technical Director for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) College of Distance Education and Training

The Efiia Cares team helps lessen the burden of government by helping government agencies to achieve the following:

to shorten the critical path mobile projects take towards adoption;

for both internal and public-facing government applications;

by helping government agencies determine whether an in-house app store or third party vendor is optimal for their given requirements, environment and resource constraints;

by providing project managers with near-term results and a repeatable process for developing their mobile applications;

by assisting the procuring, provisioning, managing and efficient retirement of mobile devices; and

by using more than 350 variables, risks, best practices and compliance metrics within the government mobile computing spectrum.

O'Connor adds, "Too often, we see agencies start mobile pilots with great expectations and a tremendous amount of buy-in from mission end users -- but those initiatives don't ever get to production, so they basically end as pilots. We help agencies manage the security, privacy, budgeting and other challenges unique to government -- and get their pilots to production and scale them effectively."
