AURELIUS acquires Getronics activities in Europe and APAC from Dutch KPN
- Takeover of activities of the IT service provider in seven European
countries (outside of the Netherlands) and in five Asian/Pacific
countries (APAC)
- Continuation of growth of the company to an internationally leading IT
service provider in the expanding Getronics Workspace Alliance (GWA)
- Divestment is part of KPN's proven strategy of strengthening its
global delivery capabilities for major international clients through
partnerships
Munich, January 24, 2012 - AURELIUS and Royal KPN (The Hague, Netherlands)
intend to enter into a transaction regarding the acquisition of the
Getronics activities in Europe and APAC (hereafter 'Getronics Europe and
APAC'). Getronics Europe and APAC is an IT service provider offering
innovative solutions in the fields of workspace management, data management
and hosting, as well as consulting services. AURELIUS will acquire
Getronics Europe and APAC with operational units in seven European and five
APAC countries, with a total of 2,900 staff members and a turn-over of
approximately 450 million euros in 2011. KPN will remain a long-term
strategic partner via a minority stake in Getronics Europe and APAC. The
intended transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and the
relevant antitrust authorities will be notified. The intended transaction
is expected to be completed during the course of the second quarter.
Getronics Europe and APAC is a leading IT service provider with country
operations in Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, Ireland,
Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Thailand and
Republic of Korea. The company enjoys a diverse client base, including
international financial institutions, large- and medium sized industrial
companies and partners in the public sector. Getronics Europe and APAC has
an important role in the GWA, a growing international network of seven IT
service providers to date, with direct market access in 30 countries and a
global presence in more than 90 countries, exceeding 80 per cent of the
global economy, through its external service partners. KPN is committed to
the GWA through KPN Corporate Market (former Getronics Netherlands).
Getronics Europe and APAC continues to pursue the proven international IT
challenger strategy, combining local strengths with international reach.
The intended transaction is a further step in building an even stronger
GWA. We are convinced, that this will invigorate the unique GWA position,
expand the capabilities to serve their global customers and strengthen the
portfolio and sales capabilities of the alliance. Getronics Europe and APAC
is a partner of, among others, CISCO, Dell and Microsoft.
AURELIUS intends to utilise Getronics Europe and APAC's good starting point
and, together with the experienced management team, turn individual country
operations into leading service providers in their markets, all in the
context of a unified company strategy and as part of the GWA. At the same
time, the activities of the respective country operations will be better
linked and individual strengths expanded to the company level.
AURELIUS'objective is to, over the next few years, establish the GWA as a
leading provider in the growing outsourcing market.
