T SystemEV Meets Highest Interoperability Standards at IHE North America Connectathon
T-System's Emergency Department EHR Passed All Interoperability Tests Encompassing IT Infrastructure and Patient Care Coordination

(firmenpresse) - DALLAS, TX -- (Marketwire) -- 01/25/12 -- today announced that its emergency department information system (EDIS), , successfully verified 36 instances of tests at the 13th annual in Chicago. Hosted by the (IHE), the Connecathon is the IT industry's only large-scale interoperability testing event. T-System was one of the few best-of-breed EDIS vendors that participated.
The Connectathon promotes the adoption of standards-based interoperability by allowing vendors and users of commercially available healthcare software to test their solutions with other systems and compare capabilities -- many of which closely align with criteria for achieving . These capabilities will also support coordinated care and information visibility across an Accountable Care Organization, an emerging trend for healthcare. For the second year, T SystemEV has proven to be an interoperable solution that is compliant with both and IHE standards.
"Meaningful Use and ACO initiatives have made it more important than ever to create a connected healthcare environment that allows for the seamless transmission of health data across various care settings," said , T-System vice president of solution development. "T-System's successful demonstration of interoperability indicates our unwavering commitment to support this exchange of data in a way that does not require facilities to make productivity or quality sacrifices when selecting a system to support the ED."
T-System completed tests for the IHE IT Infrastructure and Patient Care Coordination domains. Within those domains, T SystemEV supported the profiles below:
Audit Trail and Node Authentication
Consistent Time
ED physician note creation
ED physician note consumption
ED referral consumption
ED nursing notes consumption
Patient identifier cross-referencing lookup for master person index
Triage notes consumption
Cross-enterprise document sharing
Cross-enterprise sharing of medical summaries
Vendors that successfully complete the Connecathon are invited to participate in the demonstrations at the annual (HIMSS) held Feb. 20-24 in Las Vegas. T-System will demonstrate how an ED might contribute information that would enable a smoother transition of care. During this use case, T SystemEV will interoperate with other systems, including an outpatient and inpatient EHR and health information exchange, starting with properly identifying the patient, retrieving a referral document, and creating a summary of the ED visit to be consumed by physicians outside of the ED.
