CFIA/Allergy Alert: Undeclared Hazelnut and Possibly Other Tree Nuts in Original Gourmet Brand Passion Cookies
(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 01/30/12 -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Walmart Canada Corp. are warning people with allergies to tree nuts (hazelnuts) not to consume the Original Gourmet brand Passion Cookies described below. The affected product contains hazelnut and may contain other tree nuts which are not declared on the label.
The Original Gourmet brand Passion Cookies, product of Turkey, is sold in a 0.88 oz (25 g) package bearing Best Before date 11 05 2012 LH 031. The outer metal container bears UPC 6 54954 20349 1, and the inner package bears UPC 6 5494 20117 6 and Best Before date 11 05 2012.
This product has been distributed nationally.
There has been one reported reaction associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to tree nuts (hazelnut).
Walmart Canada Corp. Mississauga, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
