Electronics Recycler E-World Online Helps Manufacturers Fulfill State-Mandated Responsibilities

(firmenpresse) - VISTA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/31/12 -- E-World Online, a leading provider of electronics recycling solutions, announced today that in 2011 it collected over 45 million pounds of end of life consumer electronics, triple the amount it collected in 2010. This feat was made possible by E-World Online's Manufacturer Interstate Take-back System (MITS), the world's only comprehensive e-waste take-back solution for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) that fulfills every requirement of extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulations.

Currently 25 U.S. states regulate e-waste collection and recycling under EPR programs with reporting requirements to demonstrate that the e-waste is being handled responsibly, and many of these states impose a severe monetary penalty for manufacturers that don't meet their requirement. E-World Online has achieved a perfect track record having never missed a target goal for any of its clients which include Sony Electronics Inc., Acer America Corp., and ViewSonic among others. In addition to meeting state requirements, OEM clients enjoy turnkey services such as drop-off location infrastructure, mail-back assistance, real-time reporting, deadline calendar alerts, document completion, liaising with state departments and third-party independent audits of recyclers that allow them to focus on growing their core business.

Achieving steady growth year over year, E-World Online collected 15 million pounds of end of life consumer electronics in 2010 and 45 million pounds in 2011. The company estimates that it will collect 60 million pounds of e-waste by the end of 2012.

E-World Online's success has also led to partnerships with companies such as the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Earth911, Inc., operator of the nation's largest recycling directory. The company also plans to expand services to include new solutions for the safe disposal of cathode ray tubes (CRT glass) and recycling programs to assist retailers of white goods including stoves and washing machines.

"New legislative trends relating to white goods are well underway," said Robert Erie, CEO of E-World Online. "In Canada, British Columbia has implemented a new law pertaining to the recycling of white goods by manufacturers and we believe the United States will follow suit. The good news is that our program can be customized to handle electronics, white goods, paint and all other recyclable materials with unparalleled scalability. MITS can fulfill any recycling need."

E-World Online is beta testing the compliance portion of white goods recycling and the take-back program's appeal for smaller appliance manufacturers with one of the nation's largest retailers. For more on E-World Online, visit .

E-World Online administers comprehensive e-waste take-back programs across the country for leading consumer electronics manufacturers. The Manufacturer Interstate Take-back System (MITS) network, comprised of either R2- or e-Steward-certified recyclers, will collect an estimated 42 million pounds of e-waste for some of the world's leading consumer electronics manufacturers in 2011. MITS is able to offer services in nearly all 50 states and provides manufacturers with a solution to monitor collection progress in real-time and guides consumers with information about local e-waste recycling options in their communities. E-waste accounts for 2-5% of municipal solid waste streams, and according to the EPA, only 18% of e-waste is recycled. E-World Online is a division of E-World Recyclers of Vista, Calif.
