Media Advisory/Available for Comment: IFAW Staff Available Following "Government Supports Sealers" Event

(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 02/02/12 -- A press release and photo opportunity has been arranged by the government in order to "show support for sealers" today on Parliament Hill. Sheryl Fink, Director of the Seal Program with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is available to comment on the content of the briefing and photo opportunity surrounding the 'Day of the Seal' as it is being referred to.

IFAW says that given the nearly non-existent markets for seal products, the government should be developing a strategy to end the dying sealing industry altogether, compensate sealers appropriately, and protect seals from the threats of climate change and commercial exploitation.
