Tetlow, who was diagnosed with at 12 years old, knows first-hand the ongoing emotional struggles and daily challenges a person with diabetes faces.
"Growing up with diabetes, very few understood what I was really going through. While doctors gave the medical information and family and friends tried to give their support, it wasn't until I met others with diabetes that I felt validated," states Tetlow.
Today, families and professionals, alike, seek out Tetlow's services as she helps them plan the daily logistics of living with diabetes. Equally important, clients turn to Tetlow for the crucial emotional support needed to get through their most challenging days. Type 1 diabetes is defined as an autoimmune disease. The body's pancreas does not produce the hormone insulin, which is needed to live. The insulin must be injected daily. Type 2 diabetes is defined as a . The pancreas does not produce and/or use insulin efficiently.
