3-Day Short Course on OFDM and Additional Training on DVB-H
(firmenpresse) - Starnberg, 4. November 2008 – hueggenberg gbr, the experts for technical training courses, are offering a training package on digital transmission from 9th to 12th December in Munich, Germany: The 3-day short course on OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) takes place from 9th to 11th December and deals with this digital multi-carrier modulation method, which is widely spread in mobile communications. The technical training DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast for Handheld) is an ideal addition to the course OFDM for Wireless and takes place directly afterwards. Both courses afford an ideal, consecutive overview over modern technologies of digital and mobile transmission. The trainings can also be taken separately.
OFDM for Modern Mobile Communications
Prior to its use in wireless systems, OFDM was more common known as DMT and found use in ADSL. The field of wireless communications has become more and more important in the past years, and new, advanced systems will go into operation soon. Examples are 3rd generation mobile telephone systems like UMTS, indoor communication systems like HIPERLAN and broadcast systems like DVB (digital video broadcast). OFDM is now a bandwidth efficient digital modulation technique which forms the basis of many wireless standards currently under development. OFDM techniques are extremely popular for wireless communications and are the base algorithm technology for standards as 802.11, 802.16 and 802.20. The 3-day short course incorporates everything from the fundamentals, advantages and disadvantages of OFDM modulation to receive synchronisation techniques and case studies of cutting edge standards. This course will be led by Professor Bob Stewart and integrate presentations and design sessions from other experienced design engineers from Steepest Ascent.
Digital Video Broadcast for Handhelds
This one day course builds on the OFDM principles and introduces the physical layer of Digital Video Broadcast for Handheld (DVB-H). This technology, based on DVB-T, facilitates the delivery of digital TV services to handheld devices. The key OFDM parameters for DVB-T and DVB-H are presented. This course will also be led by Professor Bob Stewart and his team and integrate presentations and design sessions.
