(firmenpresse) - PHOENIX, AZ -- (Marketwire) -- 02/08/12 -- On February 15, 1912, just one day after the Arizona Territory became America's 48th state, Merchants Information Solutions (Merchants) was "born" as Merchants & Manufacturers' Association and began its first 100 years helping protect businesses with critically important information. Celebrating with the theme of "100 years of Integrity," Merchants is entering its second 100 years as a world-class leader in employment and tenant background screening and business ID Theft solutions. Merchants' centennial includes the company's launch of its "100 Scholarships" program with the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation.

Merchants, the launch organization for the Central, Northern & Western Arizona Better Business Bureau in the late 1930s, will be celebrating with employees -- past and present -- and customers at a luncheon on its 100th "anniversary." Internationally recognized Merchants' spokespersons Jerry Colangelo and Harvey Mackay will be on hand to lead the festivities.

In celebration of 100 years, Merchants is launching its "100 Scholarships" program in association with the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation. Details of the program will be formally announced at the event on February 15, 2012.
February 15, 1912 -- Founded as Merchants & Manufacturers' Association
1937-1939 -- The Central, Northern & Western Arizona Better Business Bureau spun out of Merchants & Manufacturers' Association
July of 1985 -- To better represent its expanded geographical reach, the company changed its name to Credit Data Southwest
April 1999 -- The name changed from Credit Data Southwest to a new holding company named Merchants Information Solutions, Inc.
