Ordina finalist in European Software Excellence Awards with Open Source project

A panel of judges from the European Software Excellence Awards has selected an
Ordina Open Source project as a finalist in the Business Intelligence category.
This project, conducted for a large Dutch municipality, consists of an
integrated open source solution that collects financial and management
information from a variety of different systems. This solution offers public
officials complete insight into the progress, status of budgets and other
management information of all large-scale projects running within the
municipality. Ordina collaborated with JasperSoft, supplier of Open Source
Business Intelligence solutions, on this project.
IT Europa organises the European Software Excellence Awards annually. The
organisation uses the Awards to highlight the best solutions in the market.
These solutions stand out because of their high degree of applicability within
the client organisation or the unique cooperation between the supplier and the
client or because the solution added such significant value to the client
organisation. The awards are not intended for standard products.
"With this innovative Open Source Business Intelligence solution, Ordina has
demonstrated that it is possible to solve a client's highly complex problem in a
relatively fast and inexpensive manner", according to John Chapman, Editorial
Director at IT Europa.
"Successful implementations are not guaranteed by good technology alone, the
level of cooperation between the client and the service provider is often
definitive", says Roland Rine, Director of the Business Intelligence business
unit at Ordina. "The choice for open source was very important to our client in
this instance. Cost efficiency was another major consideration. With these two
criteria in mind, we collaborated with JasperSoft to implement an open source
solution that gives over 300 users a complete overview of the status of all
large projects at a single glance. This improves the overall control of the
municipality's large projects and ensures a faster and more effective way of
working. We are proud of the fact that the judges from the European Software
Excellence Awards have recognised the value added by our project by nominating
it as a finalist in the Business Intelligence category."
The winners will be announced on the 1(st) of March at the European Software
Excellence 2012 Awards Dinner, held at the Grand Hyatt in Berlin.
