juwi Wind Expands North American Footprint Into Canada
Growth Potentials in Several Provinces / Focus on Small and Medium Sized, Community-Focused Projects in the Maritimes, Ontario and British Columbia

"The Canadian market is a natural fit for juwi. We see strong growth in several provinces for projects less than 50 megawatts. Small and mid-sized projects like these can be more closely integrated with the local communities which the projects serve. juwi has developed and built over 800 megawatts of wind projects almost exclusively in these small to mid-project sizes and they've been colored with strong community involvement, engagement, and community investment," stated Michael Rucker, CEO of juwi Wind Canada.
juwi Wind Canada is actively looking for development partners and projects which could benefit from juwi's financial strength and development expertise, so to help realize the projects and maintain their financial health through long term ownership and operation.
juwi's diversification strategy in North America also allows investment in projects that are not subject to the uncertainty of USA Production Tax Credit (PTC) extension. "Lack of a long-term, stable policy in the USA will deny jobs and other benefits to US communities if the US PTC is not extended soon. We are pleased that Canadian policymakers have taken a longer-term view to their benefit," stated Rucker.
As part of entering the market, juwi has joined the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) and is initially focusing its efforts in small and medium sized, community-focused projects in the Maritimes, Ontario and British Columbia.
