(firmenpresse) - BOULDER, CO and MOSCOW -- (Marketwire) -- 02/23/12 -- Rogue Wave Software and (MSU) are pleased to jointly announce their collaboration in development and training on the Lomonosov supercomputer, installing two of Rogue Wave's flagship products -- the and . Rogue Wave is the largest independent provider of cross-platform software development tools and embedded components for the next generation of HPC/High Performance Computing applications. MSU is one of Russia's largest and most prestigious universities, established in 1755. Its one of the first such centers to be affiliated with an educational institution, is the home of the Lomonosov supercomputer, the most powerful system in Russia, contributing significantly to the growth of Russian innovation and discovery.

The cooperative agreement between Rogue Wave Software and Lomonosov MSU will focus on improving, strengthening, and promoting mutual engineering, educational and scientific collaboration. Both organizations will work toward establishing effective cultural relations and cooperation, with expressed interest in development and training, research projects, and resource exchanges in such areas as computational science, supercomputing and high performance computing applications. To this end, symposia, conferences, seminars and short courses on software debugging and performance tools are planned.

Scott Lasica, Vice-President of Products and Alliances at Rogue Wave, explained, "This partnership with MSU reflects our commitment to making TotalView the tool that immediately comes to mind for any scientist, developer, educator, researcher or student who has a need for a great debugger, anywhere in the world."

The first seminar was conducted in November 2011 at the RCC, with Rogue Wave providing TotalView debugger training for users of the Moscow university supercomputing center. RCC's hosted systems and HPC resources support more than 500 different groups from faculties and institutes of MSU, institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences, and universities across all Russia with broad distribution over all scientific areas. Extensive ongoing development means that the machines are heavily used, with time on them at a premium, and developers are eager to find ways to maximize the productivity of their windows of time. TotalView's GPU and batch mode debugging capabilities and ThreadSpotter's ability to pinpoint the performance slow spots and provide advice on resolving the issues make both tools particularly appreciated for their potential to optimize the usage of the valuable time on the supercomputers.

"The initial MSU seminar left our researchers eager to experience for themselves the benefits TotalView will provide in their quest to resolve development issues most efficiently," commented Professor Vladimir Voevodin, Deputy Director, Research Computing Center, Moscow State University. "We are confident that TotalView will simplify work with complex objects, complicated parallel paradigms, and increasingly multi-core architectures. Its , , and even were significant in our selection process."
