IDBLUE Introduces Next-Generation UHF Mobile RFID Reader for Smartphones and Tablets
- New reader for iPhone and iPad offers unparalleled mobility and ease of use - Mygrant Glass to roll out IDBLUE.UHF across US to save time, money and paper

(firmenpresse) - ST. JOHN'S, NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR -- (Marketwire) -- 02/23/12 -- IDBLUE today unveiled the world's first (radio frequency identification) reader for smartphones and tablets.
IDBLUE.UHF is a handheld, pen-shaped that is ideal for use with smartphones and tablets, including iPhones and iPads. It is designed for precision applications in healthcare, retail, utilities, aerospace, oil and gas, and other industries. The readers are intended to meet the fast-growing demand for mobility along with global adoption of the Electronic Product Code Gen 2 standard for UHF devices.
Weighing in at just 60 grams - less than the weight of an apple - IDBLUE.UHF offers unparalleled portability and ease of use for close-proximity RFID applications. Other today can be expensive, heavy and cumbersome.
The specially designed tip of the pen style reader can be used to navigate and enter data on your smartphone, instead of using your finger. This feature is especially useful in situations where the user is wearing gloves.
"IDBLUE.UHF bridges the gap between the explosion in smartphone use and the rapid growth of RFID adoption," says Steve Taylor, CEO, IDBLUE. "As companies increasingly integrate smartphones and tablets into their operations, IDBLUE turns these devices into a powerful asset tracking and management tool with a value-add RFID reader."
Mygrant Glass Plans Nationwide Rollout
Mygrant Glass Co., Inc. the largest independent wholesale distributor of auto glass in the U.S., plans to deploy an IBLUE.UHF reader in each of its almost 600 delivery vehicles nationwide after a successful initial test run.
The Hayward, California-based company will use IDBLUE readers with iPads to confirm customer deliveries and automatically update its own inventory database. The end goal is greener, paperless and more efficient deliveries, which now require more than 15,000 paper forms a day.
"IDBLUE's UHF readers save us time, money and effort all the way through the delivery process," says Daniel Parkinson, IT Director, Mygrant Glass. "It will also help us achieve our environmental goals by eliminating the use of thousands of cases of paper every week."
The IDBLUE.UHF reader is available for a limited-time, 30-day free trial, allowing users to evaluate the device risk-free. Companies interested in becoming resellers are invited to apply to IDBLUE's new SMART (Strategic Market Alliance Reseller Team) Program.
