The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, discussed the impacts of war with Veterans and citizens of Levis last night following a performance of the play "Le grand cahier" at L'Anglicane theatre.

"I am very pleased to see the regional cultural community and organizations like Les Voyagements helping people learn more about the realities of war," said Minister Steven Blaney. "Events such as this one remind us of the importance of remembering the courageous Canadians who took part in the war effort."

Les Voyagements, an organization dedicated to theatre audience development, received up to $6,195 in funding for this project through Veterans Affairs Canada's Community Engagement Partnership Fund. The play, which will be presented in a number of theatres across the province, deals with war and its impact on people, especially youth.

"I was deeply moved by this adaptation of Agota Kristof's novel, and I congratulate Groupe Bec-de-lievre for putting on such an enriching and eloquent performance that reminds us of the hardships and horrors of war," added Minister Blaney. "Our Government is proud to support projects that honour the legacy of those brave men and women who fought in the defence of peace, freedom and democracy around the world."

The Community Engagement Partnership Fund provides funding for non-profit organizations, educational institutions and any other groups interested in planning remembrance initiatives. Funding applications are accepted throughout the year. For more information on the Community Engagement Partnership Fund, please visit or call 1-866-522-2122.
