Sunshine Village: Snowflyers Take Home Trophy at Scurfield Invitational

The Calgary Alpine Snowflyers ski team was the worthy recipient of the this weekend at .
The Sunshine Invitational Alpine Ski Race for young athletes is held annually and the Snowflyers won the team category for ages 7 to 11 years.
"It is my pleasure to award the Scurfield Cup to the winners of The Sunshine Invitational on behalf of Sunshine and the Scurfield family," said during the awards ceremony.
"This incredible event has been going on at Sunshine Village since was founded in 1971. I was a past club racer although back then they just gave me an orange Nancy Green Toque and told me to go fast."
The Sunshine Speedsters had a strong finish second place finish during the four run, dual slalom format race which was held on the Snow Snake ski run at .
was founded in 1971 and the program in 1983 by well-known local ski coach Claudio Berto.
A number of the Sunshine Ski Club's past ski racers have gone on to compete on the National Team, including Lana Blais Mullen, Darren Thorburn, Shona Rubens and current CAST member Andy Trow.
