Amcor Flexibles wins a 2008 Bioplastics Award

Amcor Flexibles is proud to announce that we have received the 2008 Bioplastics Award in the category 'Best Bioplastics Application – Packaging' for our NaturePlus compostable film that is used to pack Sainsbury's SO Organic Wild Rocket salad.

(firmenpresse) - The film is part of Amcor's NaturePlus range of biodegradable, compostable and recyclable products offered in response to the global demands for more sustainable packaging solutions.

“Sainsbury’s challenged us to deliver a non-genetically modified, compostable film for their organic salads. It has to run in a wet environment with no adverse impact on packing speeds," explained Peter Ettridge, Sustainable Product Development Manager at Amcor Flexibles, at the 2008 Bioplastics Awards. "In developing the film I would like to recognize the support of Sainsbury's, their packer Vitacress, Flextrus and my colleagues at Amcor Flexibles who all contributed to successfully launching this product on the market."

Organised by the European Plastics News, the Bioplastics Awards are in their third year and are intended to raise the profile of bioplastics and recognize the best innovations in this area. This is the second time Amcor Flexibles has won the Bioplastics Award. In 2007 we were awarded Best Bioplastics Processor.

As a further demonstration of our commitment to sustainability, Amcor Flexibles recently conducted two Sustainability seminars with key customers, NGO’s and Amcor employees. The seminars were held in Oslo, Norway and Gothenburg, Sweden and covered a broad spectrum of sustainability topics, including climate change, carbon footprint, food waste, packaging optimisation as well as bio based and compostable materials.

Amcor Flexibles is proud of the award for Best Bioplastics Application and our ongoing commitment to helping our customers to introduce more sustainable packaging into the market.
