Minister of Advanced Education and Technology presents to international students at the University of Calgary

(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/29/12 -- While rampant unemployment is impacting much of the Western world, many companies in western Canada are experiencing labour shortages. These skill shortages have resulted in companies seeking temporary and permanent workers from abroad.

Alberta has always welcomed new immigrants to complement its small population so on March 2, 2012, the University of Calgary will be hosting a one-day conference and employability workshop aimed at international visa students and graduates.

During the conference, The Honorable Greg Weadick, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, will be discussing how new graduates can make their degrees work in Alberta and students will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from various Calgary-based industries including banking, oil & gas, IT, telecommunications and healthcare, offering employment advice and guidance.

This conference is made possible through the support of the RBC Foundation's Investing in New Canadians Program at the Haskayne School of Business and is open to all current visa students and graduates based in Calgary.

Full list of key speakers and presentations is available from: haskayne.ucalgary.ca/global-talent

Media and journalists are invited to attend key speeches from 8:30 - 10:30 on March 2, 2012.
