Minister Blaney Invites Veterans to Share Evidence With Scientific Advisory Committee

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 03/05/12 -- The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today invited Veterans to share evidence they may have regarding health issues with the Scientific Advisory Committee on Veterans Health. The Committee, established in December 2011, will provide independent advice to the Minister on specific Veterans' health issues. Its first topic of study is depleted uranium.
"The Committee members and I agree that it is vital that Veterans have the opportunity to contribute to this process," said Minister Blaney. "I am committed to ensuring that the Committee's work is informed by all relevant information about health issues that our Veterans face."
Since December 2011, the Committee has already met twice and its study of potential health impacts related to depleted uranium continues.
The five committee members are Dr. Pierre Morisset (Chair), Dr. Claire Infante-Rivard, Dr. Kurt Kroenke, Dr. Cameron Mustard and Dr. Dorothy Pringle, all of whom are recognized leaders in health research. Dr. Morisset and Dr. Kroenke are also Veterans.
Veterans are invited to share evidence they feel is relevant to the assessment of scientific evidence about the health effects of depleted uranium for the Committee's consideration. This information, and related inquiries, should be directed to:
