Participating Physicians Can Increase Their Medicare Reimbursement by Capturing and Reporting on Specific Quality Data Measures

PQRS is a program that provides an incentive bonus to eligible providers who satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) services furnished to Medicare Part B beneficiaries. Vitera Intergy is an ONC-certified EHR solution that eligible providers may use to calculate, view and submit the report data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for this program.
Southaven Internal Medicine used Vitera Intergy with Practice Analytics to successfully submit 2011 PQRS measure data to CMS.

According to CMS, individual eligible professionals don't need to sign up or pre-register to participate in PQRS. However, to qualify for an incentive payment an eligible professional must meet the criteria for satisfactory reporting specified by CMS for a particular reporting period. PQRS is a voluntary reporting program, which provides an incentive payment to practices with eligible professionals who satisfactorily report data on quality measures for covered Physician Fee Schedule services furnished to Medicare Part B Fee-for-Service beneficiaries.
The incentive physicians receive is 1 percent of the total estimated "Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule" allowed charges in 2011. Beginning in 2015, physicians who choose not to report measure will be penalized by receiving reduced reimbursements for their Medicare claims.
