First Annual "St. Pat's Sprint for Recovery" Charity Regatta Honors Maggie Daley, Benefits Recovery on Water

(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/07/12 -- The first annual St. Pat's Sprint for Recovery regatta will take place in Chicago on Saturday, March 17. The event benefits Recovery on Water (ROW), a rowing team that gives breast cancer survivors the opportunity to interact, become active in their recovery, and gain support from fellow survivors. It will also honor the late First Lady of Chicago, Maggie Daley.

Through a partnership with rowing clubs LPJ Chicago, Recovery on Water, and Chicago Rowing Union, the regatta will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the LPJ Chicago boathouse, 1020 West Weed Street. Participants will row downtown to enjoy the St. Patrick's Day river-dyeing festivities before a spirited race from the Kinzie Street bridge to the Chicago Street bridge.

Along with the rowing shells covered in pink balloons, ROW founder Jenn Gibbons will showcase her ocean-rowing vessel Liv. On June 15, 2012, Gibbons will embark on a 1,500-mile row around the perimeter of Lake Michigan. As a part of this solo row, she will raise funds and awareness for ROW. All funds raised towards this effort, as well as a portion of the entrance fee for the St. Pat's Sprint for Recovery, will help provide scholarships and equipment for the ROW team.
