Hotel Near Empire State Building Opens New Restaurant and Lounge 525LEX

Modern comfort food, featuring simple, high-quality ingredients makes up the menu at 525LEX, along with signature cocktails, craft beers and a great selection of wines. With a menu emphasizing shareable items, guests are welcome to unwind and take in the atmosphere -- with gleaming hardwood floors and rich saturated colors that create a cozy but dramatic setting.
Chef Renato Gerena's featured appetizers include charred shishito peppers, fresh burrata with a choice of toppings, and chipotle shrimp flatbreads. Casual and hearty main course choices at the include grilled filet mignon & garlic fries, house-made torn pastas, and lobster mac'n cheese. Burger aficionados relish the "Burger Bar," which features a variety of combinations, such as old school bacon and cheddar sliders, BBQ pork and apple slaw sliders, full-size local blue cheese and whisky onion burgers, and NY cheddar & applewood bacon burgers. Dessert specials include an amusing "lemon meringue pie in a jar" and red jacket orchard apple crisp.
525LEX is located at street level in the New York Marriott East Side hotel, one of the historic . The hotel, built in the 1920s, is famous for many things -- one of which is illusionist Harry Houdini's great escape. In the hotel's former underground swimming pool, he freed himself from a locked box submerged underwater. 525LEX tips its hat to the great Houdini with a selection of Houdini-illusion-inspired cocktails. In the cocktail menu one will find fun in the Houdini-tini, the Vanishing Elephant, the Orange Challenge, and the Suspended Straitjacket Escape.
The restaurant and bar were designed as a great room as well as a , where guests can dine, work and play, all in the same setting. The long bar ends in the shape of an ellipse, which is glass-lit and brings to mind a pool of water. The expansive back of bar is back-lit with architectural images. All around, guests have a choice of seating, from individual traditional seating and bar stools, to communal dining and lounge or alcove seating. A comfortable lower communal table with table top plug-ins allows guests to log on and work or play, while enjoying a meal or drinks. This spacious setting's primary colors are bright gold and vivid red furnishings, which harmonize with its dark wood floors.
525LEX is open seven days a week. Breakfast is served daily. Bar service is from 12:00 noon - 1:00am daily. Dinner is served from 5:00pm-11:00pm.
