Oil-Dri Corporation of America Wins Walmart Responsibility Award
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwire) -- 03/16/12 -- Oil-Dri Corporation of America (NYSE: ODC) recently received the Walmart Vendor Responsibility Award for the consumables business unit that recognizes a company's commitment to providing products that help Walmart meet or exceed their sustainability goals. Oil-Dri received this award on March 8, 2012 at the vendor Year Beginning Meeting where thousands of key suppliers convened to kick off Walmart's fiscal year.
Dan Jaffee, President and CEO, said, "We are honored to receive this award from Walmart that recognizes our sustainability efforts. Unlike sales awards that are internally focused, this award recognizes the positive effects that we are making on the environment and in the lives of consumers. We challenged our research team to develop a cat litter that was equal to or better than any other competitive litter, but that carried the added benefit of giving our consumers an equal volume of product while being up to 25% lighter than clay based, sodium bentonite scoopable litters. The result was Cat's Pride Fresh & Light.
"This innovation was born when we saw the changes taking place in the liquid laundry detergent category where the major players took water out of their formulas in order to reduce the weight of each jug and therefore reduce the carbon footprint. This is not only good for our consumers who can carry home 25% less weight when they purchase litter, but also for our trade partners who can now fit 22% more units on each truckload of Fresh & Light that they order.
