Ten Million UK-Domains

(PresseBox) - The uk-domain is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United Kingdom.It is the fourth most popular top-level domain worldwide (after .com, .de and .net).
The '.co.uk' second level domain within '.uk' is more widely used than for most other countries. This results of specific rules set by the registry, prohibiting direct use of the ccTLD .uk.
The uk-domains passed another significant milestone when it reached recently ten million registrations.

Nominet declares: "The new multi-year registration periods will offer greater choice for registrants, who can secure their domain for a longer term without worrying about regular renewals."
Nominet reports, that before taking the decision, it has consulted with its members and the wider domain name community to ensure their views on whether and how to bring in flexible registrations were taken into account.
