Custom Ironwork Company Set to Present on Eco-Friendly, American Craftsmanship at 2012 Architectural Digest Home Design Show

(firmenpresse) - GAP, PA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/19/12 -- Luxury metalworking operation Compass Ironworks (ironworkclassics.com) will be demonstrating its environmentally-friendly approach to creating custom wrought iron products at the 2012 Architectural Digest Home Design Show between March 22-25 in New York City. During a series of "Green Wrought Iron" presentations, Compass's master craftsmen will share signature techniques for designing and producing intricately wrought iron gates, fences, railings, and banisters, with minimal impact on the environment.

Located in rural Lancaster County, where horse-drawn buggies share the roads with cars, Compass Ironworks combines old world artisanship with modern tools and technologies to deliver handcrafted, wrought iron products with very little drain on natural resources. "Compass Ironworks is a team of craftsmen that are working completely off the grid," says owner Amos Glick. "We use plant-based bio-fuel to generate power to create exceptional grand staircase railings from iron with 97% recycled content."

In addition to demonstrating its "green" ironwork capabilities, the upcoming Architectural Digest Design Show presentations will cover Compass's emphasis on working with U.S. suppliers and producers, despite the cost advantages to competitors that manufacture their products in South America and Asia. Compass helps promote domestic employment through its policy of only using raw materials originating in the United States and by exclusively contracting with American companies for its custom dies and fixtures.

Compass Ironworks operates a 15,000 square foot workshop with its own power source. The company also employs a sustainable finishing process with 99.99% reclaimable overspray that emits no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere. The process, which has been scientifically proven to withstand the harsh elements of a seaside environment, was researched and developed for clients with shore homes who wanted to install Compass' ironwork outdoors. "For centuries, waterfront property owners desired the elegance and rigidity of iron that did not obstruct the panoramic water views on shore homes," says Glick, "Now clients can have an eco-friendly finish that is robust and durable enough to hold up to the rigorous environment of waterfront homes."

Working in the scenic Pennsylvania Dutch farm country of Lancaster County, PA, the master craftsmen at Compass Ironworks are dedicated to creating works of art out of metal. Compass Ironworks works hand-in-hand with contractors, architects, designers, and other parties to meet client needs and to complete installations on time and within budget.
