- Voting Starts Today for 2012 Extel Survey Awards

London, 19 March, 2012 - Thomson Reuters Extel announced that voting starts
today for the forthcoming 2012 Extel Pan-European Survey, which this year has
been extended to include questions relating to the fast-growing use of
electronic alpha capture programs by fund managers, as well as their importance
in broker scorecards and rankings.

Extel surveys consistently evolve to explore and report on the changing
priorities and interests of the international fund management community and to
assess the value and services provided to them by investment banks and brokers.
The growth of electronic alpha capture programs, where brokers send trade ideas
to specific clients, based on sophisticated algorithms and systems, has
accelerated enormously in recent years.  Initially in Europe, then North America
and now in Asia Pacific and developing markets, trade ideas play an increasing
role in the investment strategies of many money managers and how they allocate
their "broker vote".

To reflect this growing importance Extel is including a series of questions in
both the "buy side" and "sell side" sections of its survey.  For example, fund
managers will be asked:  "How important does your firm regard electronic alpha
capture as part of its overall investment process?" and "How do you expect the
regional coverage of your electronic alpha capture program to change over the
next 12 months?  Brokers will be asked to respond to questions such as:  "Over
the next 12 months how do you think the proportion of commission allocated by
clients to electronic alpha capture will change?"

Commenting on the inclusion of electronic alpha capture within the survey, Steve
Kelly, managing director of Extel at Thomson Reuters, said:  "It is essential
that Extel remains committed to identifying the key trends in fund management

globally and ensures that it asks respondents the right questions to maximise
the effectiveness and value of the survey results. The incredible growth of
electronic alpha capture to become a core part of brokers' services to money
managers is a clear example of this commitment.  I am particularly looking
forward to reviewing the responses and results of the survey in this regard and
learning more about how brokers and their clients perceive the value of
electronic alpha capture."

The results of the Pan-European Extel Survey will be announced at the annual
Awards ceremony in London on Tuesday 12(th) June, and will be published in full
on the Survey website the same day.  Questionnaires are available and responses
can be submitted to the Survey website, www.extelsurvey.com, from today up until
4(th) May.   In 2011, 9,000 professionals from 2,250 buy-side firms, 2,500
brokerage analysts from 240 brokerage firms/research houses and 750 of Europe's
largest quoted companies worldwide participated in the Survey.
