Recruiters Modernize Search With JobOn Video Applications
Sometimes Called the Video Resume, Recorded Video Displacing Paper Applications

(firmenpresse) - STEVENSVILLE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 03/19/12 -- Resumes and paper applications have only limited success in getting jobs for applicants, according to corporate recruiters who recently signed up for JobOn. They cite their main drawback as widespread use, making it difficult for applicants to stand out.
To overcome this obstacle recruiters are increasingly looking for and encouraging applicants to use online services such as JobOn. It allows seekers to record video responses to general interview questions and then click to send them to recruiters and employers listed on the site. The videos, shot via webcam, provide a more comprehensive first impression because seekers can showcase their enthusiasm, poise and knowledge of the job.
"For seekers JobOn represents both a strategy and an opportunity," says Rob Segall, corporate recruiter, career manager and founder of . "They can demonstrate on camera that they really want the job and are well-suited for it by overcoming their usual hesitation to sell themselves. And when they do meet a hiring manager the ice is already broken and they've laid the foundation for a great employment relationship."
Even professionally written resumes loaded with key words can face difficulty making good candidates visible, adds JobOn Chief Marketing Officer Chris Ourand, because applicant tracking systems screen for lots of criteria. "A better way to get in the door is a video profile, which, like a LinkedIn address, generates a unique web address that applicants use as a calling card to recruiters and employers. It's a natural extension for web-based recruiting."
Since JobOn launched in Fall 2011, more than 1,000 employers are using the service including recruiters from Fortune 500 companies.
JobOn combines employment listings with the convenience of applying by video. The recorded videos via webcam simplify the job-matching process for nearly 80 million employees and nine million workplaces that hire for service-related positions. The results are greater satisfaction for employees, and less turnover and lower costs for employers.
