Rapid adoption of electronic health records, the phased roll out of Meaningful Use, pay-for-performance programs such as the accountable care organization, and the proliferation of health information exchanges are all changing how hospitals and health systems use protected health information (PHI). Furthermore, new data processing requirements, such as 5010 and ICD-10, are transforming the way that PHI is accessed and managed. Mueller will demonstrate the necessity of embracing projects like ICD-10 and payment reform while ensuring best practices in preparing for new security and compliance regulations.
